The german NGO Positive Nett-Works e.V. creates floating islands of recycled materials. They mostly are constructed within community-based integrated-art projects and serve as floating classrooms, cultural stages and extraordinary spaces for meetings and workshops.
We now are about to develop the construction techniques for the use of the platforms as floating gardens, rescue islands and decentralized energy platforms.
Next step is the construction of a floating classroom in Goa/India in January 2012.
Our longterm goal is
- to provide lowtech solutions for the construction of floating platforms of recycled material in flood disaster affected areas.
- to develop different "social business"-solutions that can be realized on floating platforms and financed with microcredits.
- to build a big artificial island - sustainable, autarcic, beautiful - as a floating offshore habitat for people, plants, animals within the coming 7 years.
