Hands off Mother Earth! Stop Geoengineering!

The failure of the Copenhagen Climate Conference opened the door for corporations and governments to opt for other solutions than their overdue emissions reductions to stop climate change.

What they have come up with sounds like strange sci-fi ideas, but is dead earnest: Geoengineering. This means

-blasting sulfate particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun’s rays;

-dumping iron particles in the oceans to nurture CO2-absorbing plankton;
-firing silver iodide into clouds to produce rain;
-genetically engineering crops to have reflective leaves;
-spraying seawater into clouds to make clouds whiter.

With his H.O.M.E.-campaign, Pat Mooney (RLA 1985) is at the forefront of the struggle against turning our earth into a laboratory of profit-driven corporations.
